Letter: State tax law is ill advised and unconstitutional

Editor,
Willie Sutton reportedly answered the question about why he robbed banks, “Because that’s where the money is.” Sutton’s law, as it has become known is the justification for thieves ever since. The Democrats in Olympia seem to have taken the “law” to heart while the governor is giddy over the passage of an anti-constitutional law. Contradicting term, but Democrats love to redefine our language to suit whatever they want.
I propose the following to satisfy the crooks, excuse me, legislators who want money they didn’t earn. Why not issue a personal ID number to all the citizens of the state that has to be used whenever they purchase something and adjust the cost according to their wealth status. Why should Bill Gates only pay the same amount for a Big Mac as someone who earns minimum wage? He’s rich; his purchases should be commensurate with his income. Why should I have to pay the same amount when I go grocery shopping or to the mall that Mr. Gates does? It seems unfair.
Just because someone works harder than me, or provides a better service or product, why am I penalized? Well, you see my point.
Hopefully there will be some judge willing to uphold this States Constitution, but I won’t hold my breath. The voters deserve the people they elect. I just wish the rest of us didn’t have to live with their stupidity.
