James Allan Wesley, age 83 of Oak Harbor, WA passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, in his home, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on October 16, 1942 in Oak Park, IL, James lived a life defined by service, family and quiet strength. He graduated Shawnee-Mission North High School in Overland Park, KS on June 3, 1960. He proudly served in the United States Navy for twenty years (1966-1986) and retired as a Master Chief. He received the following military related service awards/medals: Vietnam Service Medal, Armed forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Fifth Good Conduct Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal.
His commitment to his country was a source of great pride. After his military service James worked for multiple government contract companies (Veridian and General Dynamics) for another twenty years supporting the USN’s mission. Throughout his career he was known for his integrity, kindness, reliability, and work ethic.
Above all else, James was a devoted husband of 55 years, brother, father, and grandfather. He cherished time with his family and friends fishing, crabbing, camping, hunting, and playing cribbage.
His character, guidance, and quiet example will live on through those he raised and inspired.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his children Andrew(Jennifer) and Rebecca(Anthony); his grandchildren Christopher, Jackson, Catherine, and Annalise. He was preceded in death by his son, James, and brothers Morgan and Robert.
A gathering will be held in the Spring by close friends and family to celebrate his life and disburse of his ashes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) or the local VFW high school scholarship fund in his memory.
James will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his service, citizenship, and love of family and community.
