Mark Stewart Cassidy, dressed as Santa Claus, waves from atop a speedboat festooned with colorful Christmas lights. This is the Scotland native’s fourth year playing the jolly big red man at the Lighting of Langley, which took place Saturday, Nov. 30. The traditional event included a heartwarming speech from a festively attired Mayor Kennedy Horstman, plenty of caroling and candy canes. Several other upcoming holiday events are scattered around Whidbey this Saturday, Dec. 7, including Langley’s Holly Jolly Parade at 11 a.m., the Greening of Coupeville Parade and Tree Lighting at 4-6 p.m. and Oak Harbor’s Santa Parade and Tree Lighting at 4:30-5:30 p.m.
