October is here, and Whidbey Island is ready to get spooky.
The season of tricks and treats kicked off this weekend with the opening of the Night Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch on Friday, Oct. 1 at Whidbey Farm and Market.
The corn maze, pumpkin patch and other fun fall activities such as outdoor games and a huge, hay bale pyramid will be available at the farm all month long.
“We wanted to create a family-friendly activity for the young and not-so-young on Whidbey Island and visitors from Seattle and the surrounding area,” said Whidbey Farm and Market co-owner Shannon Hamilton.
The farm is extending its hours to 10 p.m. every Friday and Saturday so that visitors can roast hot dogs and marshmallows around a cozy autumn bonfire, and Halloween fanatics in search of a spine-chilling challenge can attempt to navigate the corn maze in the dark.
The corn maze will take on an eerie twist as Halloween approaches; on Oct. 29 and 30, the maze will be haunted with zombies for extra creepy thrill.
The night maze costs $15 per person, or $5 during daylight hours. Pumpkins from the patch cost $0.45 per pound.
