The Oak Harbor High School soccer team rattled Edmonds-Woodway before falling 1-0 Thursday, Sept. 26, at Lynnwood High School.
The unbeaten Warriors (5-0, 7-0), leaders of the Western Conference, received greater resistance than expected from the Wildcats (1-4, 2-5), who reside near the bottom of the standings.
It’s been that type of year for Oak Harbor, which lost its third match this season by one goal.
“We had our chances, but the Edmonds-Woodway keeper made some great saves,” Oak Harbor coach Mike Lonborg said.
The Wildcats also received strong play in the net, as Tiana Jackson “played well in goal,” including stopping a penalty kick, Lonborg said.
Oak Harbor also had “strong games” from Mikhaela Cortez and Cassie Stady, according to Lonborg.
E-W scored on a header off a corner kick 10 minutes into the second half.
Oak Harbor plays another top Wesco team when it travels to Marysville Getchell (3-1, 4-1-1) for noon match Saturday, Sept. 28.
