Oak Harbor Motors holds food drive for Help House

Oak Harbor Motors is aiming to “drive out hunger” in its first-ever food drive.

Through the month of November, the dealership is hosting a “Stuff-A-Truck” campaign to collect donations for North Whidbey Help House.

“We just thought it would be a nice thing to do for the community,” said Marketing Director Samantha Horrobin.

Non-perishable food items, toiletries, school supplies and “anything that doesn’t have an expiration date” will be collected and placed in the bed of one of the dealership’s Dodge Ram pickups, which will be driven to the food bank at the end of the month, she said.

The pickup will be parked in the showroom, and Horrobin said she’s hoping its bed will be filled completely.

Customers who donate five or more items will be eligible to receive $10 off any service completed there during the month.

The dealership hasn’t held a food drive before, but Horrobin said she’s hoping to make it an annual event in November.
