Hydros for Heroes organizers are seeking volunteers from the local community to help with this year’s event.
The contests, which will be held on Sept. 15 and 16, are an American Power Boats Association registered professional charity racing event.
Hydros for Heroes is operated and run by the Craig McKenzie Team of Keller Williams Whidbey Realty and supported by the Rotary Club of Oak Harbor.
Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Rotary Club’s scholarship program and its other local charities.
The event is expected to draw more than 50 race teams and thousands of spectators to the shores of Oak Harbor along Southeast Bayshore Drive and Pioneer Way.
More than 100 volunteers are needed for a variety of roles, from helping with the opening and closing ceremonies, to manning the information booths, to serving guests in the beer gardens and VIP dock, as well as taking photographs throughout the day.
People interested in volunteering are asked to contact Ray Koladycz, the volunteer coordinator at koladycz@gmail.com, or they visit the volunteer page on the Hydros for Heroes web site at https://hydrosforheroes.com
• The races are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 with a closing ceremony and awards immediately following.
