Blaine David Ries: Dec. 11, 1952 – April 22, 2017

Blaine David Ries, age 64, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 22, at his Oak Harbor home, surrounded by his loving family.

Blaine was born on Dec. 11, 1952, in Barberton, Ohio, to David and Dorothy Ries. Blaine was raised in Akron, Ohio, and graduated from Kenmore High School.

Blaine fell in love at first sight with Flora Anas and married her on June 21, 1973. He retired as AMH1 in 1994 after serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy.

He had an entrepreneurial spirit with his businesses, known as Ries Distributors, Ries Computer Repair, Ries Financial and Tax Service and Island Hydraulic Repair. He enjoyed taking pictures of his grandchildren, flowers and birds.

He is survived by his wife Flora, brother Regan Ries, daughter Chastity Webster, son-in-law Lamont Webster, son David Ries, daughter Lauralee Mahoney, son-in-law Tommy Mahoney (Mahonster), daughter Christina McLaughlin, son-in-law Sam McLaughlin, granddaughter Ashley Kutzley, grandson Fred Webster, grandson Jamacio Webster, grandson Justin Ries, grandson Kendrick Ries, granddaughter Kaila Mahoney, granddaughter Jaslin Webster, granddaughter Lilianna Oldenhof, granddaughter Abby Ries, granddaughter Gloria Mahoney, grandson Jaiden Oldenhof, granddaughter Lola Mahoney, grandson Thomas Mahoney, grandson Javaun Webster, granddaughter Arrianna McLaughlin and granddaughter Bella Mahoney.
