Letter: In recognition of veterans, VFW Auxiliary has poppies available

The following is in response to Rose Sires’ letter to the editor, “Resident wonders, where were the poppies on Veterans Day?”:

Dear Rose,

Poppies are always available anytime on post, 3037 Goldie Road, Oak Harbor. In general, we have been distributing poppies in the community about once a month at Oak Harbor Safeway. Memorial poppies are never sold, but given in exchange for a contribution.

Our next poppy distribution will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19.

Our latest event schedule can be found on our Facebook page. Volunteers are always needed to help distribute poppies and support Veteran programs.
