VFW Auxiliary Post No. 7392 in Oak Harbor is seeking patriotic men and women to join them in making a difference in the lives of Whidbey veterans, active-duty military and their families.
The Auxiliary is hosting an auction 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, at the VFW on Goldie Road for all community members who want to learn more about and contribute to the organization and its work in the community.
“The Auxiliary provides members an opportunity to honor and give back to all who have served, and who are serving, our great nation,” Teresa Coe, Auxiliary president, said in a press release.
Tickets are $10 each or $18 per couple and available now on post.
The VFW Auxiliary is one of the nation’s oldest veterans’ service organizations; the members are the relatives of those who have served in overseas combat.
It has nearly 470,000 members.
Members volunteer millions of hours and give millions of dollars to support veterans, military service personnel and their families.
The VFW Auxiliary’s tagline is “Unwavering Support for Uncommon Heroes.”
For more than 100 years, the organization has supported the Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving veterans and their families, active-duty military and their families, and spreading patriotism nationwide.
During the 2015-2016 Program Year, Auxiliary members provided $4.4 million in monetary aid to veterans, active-duty military and their families; volunteered more than 875,000 hours in VA Medical Centers, hospitals, nursing homes and veterans homes; awarded $125,000 in scholarships; worked with more than 336,000 youth; and distributed more than 292,000 American flags, according to the press release.
