Brian Keith Saum
Published March 6, 2016
Mr. Brian Keith Saum, a 52-year-old Anchorage resident, passed away unexpectedly Sunday March 6, 2016, at his home in Anchorage.
There will be no formal services, but we hope to have a celebration of his life at a later time for family and friends which will be announced at a later date. Brian’s ashes are at home with family now.
Brian was born Nov. 14, 1963, to Douglas Keith Saum and Beverly Irene (Armstrong) Lowder in Monroe, Wash. He attended school in Oak Harbor; and not long after school, he moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he had made his home.
Brian worked as an oil refinery worker for Nordic Calista Services and was starting to set up his own painting business. He loved hunting, fishing and the Alaskan outdoors.
His family shared, “We’ll all miss Brian as he always had a smile and joke. He was generous to a fault and never hesitated to help those in need. Rest in peace, Brian.”
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Doug Saum, both sets of grandparents, Richard and Jean Cays and Barton Armstrong and Agnes Skidmore, and one infant brother.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Beverley and Jesse Lowder of Oak Harbor; brother Patrick Saum and his wife Renee and their son Darren all of Ephrata, Wash.; step-sister Heather Webb and her husband Brett of Peoria, Ariz.; uncle Terry Cays and his wife Monica of Bothell, Wash.; aunts, Nancy Gerver and her husband Grant, and their son Casey all of Flagstaff, Ariz., Linda Iverson and her husband Don of Montesano, Wash. and Alice Martin and her husband Steve of Mount Vernon, Wash.; uncle Lee Largent of Richland, Wash.; and numerous cousins.
The family suggests, because Brian liked to help others, that memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or to your favorite charity.
Arrangements were cared for by the Anchorage Funeral Home. Please visit Brian’s obituary and online guestbook at www.AlaskanFuneral.com
