Howard (Stewart) Congdon

Howard (Stewart) Congdon, born in Sandwich, Ill., June 3, 1939, died March 11, 2013, surrounded by his family and pastor. Stewart served in the US Marine Corps before entering college.

He graduated from San Diego State University then went to San Francisco Theological Seminary and Fuller Seminary where he earned a Doctorate of Ministry. As a Presbyterian minister he served churches in Iowa, Colorado and Washington and completed his career in ministry by serving a parish church in Northern Scotland.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Oak Harbor, daughter Sandra (Clyde) Beattie of, Anchorage, Alsk., son David (Rebecca) Congdon, of Silverdale, his sister, Mariam Darr of Mission Viejo, Ca., and his grandchildren, Jennifer and Fiona Beattie and Tom and Amanda Congdon.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Anacortes.

In lieu of flowers remembrances in Stewart’s name can be given to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Anacortes.
