Minta D. James

Minta Della Weekley James was born on September 20,1921 to Alice and Harry Weekley in Park Rapids, Minnesota. She passed away on August 20th while living with her daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and Richard Beasley, in Oak Harbor, Wash.
She attended Whitney Elementary school in Anacortes 1st through 6th grade and graduated from R.A. Long High School in Longview Wash. in 1939. She was standing on Deception Pass Bridge during the ceremonies when it opened in 1935. She was one of six children, who have all preceded her in death.
Minta married Howard James in 1941 and together they raised four children. They shared 57 wonderful years together before his passing in 1998. Some of Minta’s various jobs included retail, purchasing agent, medical secretary, and Motel 6. Minta and Howard lived throughout Wash. and Oreg. before moving to Oak Harbor in 1992. Minta made many friends in the Oak Harbor area while living at Summerhill Retirement and then LaConner Retirement, in LaConner, before living with her daughter. Minta’s primary concern was always her family and she spent many hours being involved in family activities. Her other interests were hobbies and cards.
Minta is survived by her daughter, Myrna Beasley (Richard), three sons, Gary James (Yuka), Mark James (Carole), Brent James (Pam) . She has 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.An open house to celebrate her life will be held at the Beasley’s home at 4541 Lyon Road, Oak Harbor from 10am to 3pm on Sunday. Family and friends are invited.
