Oak Harbor student art displayed on Pioneer Way

For the next week, a four-block stretch along Pioneer Way will display art works from local elementary school students.

The pieces will be hung in shop windows, until April 29.

They were selected by art teachers throughout the year, as some of the “top student art.”

“This is a way to thank the community for supporting the local levy,” art teacher Carla McCoy said, referring to art teacher jobs saved by the recent levy approval. “And it’s in conjunction with Holland Happening.”

Thursday night, art teachers will host an “Art Walk” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Student artists and their parents are invited to a reception at Angelo’s Caffe, followed by a walking tour of the art works. The Oak Harbor Elementary School choir will provide music.

The colorful art projects include paint, oil, chalk, print-making and 3-D mediums.
