Betty Lorraine Wunsch

Betty Lorraine Wunsch, 84, went to be with the Lord on March 26, 2009, in Surprise, Ariz. She is survived by her husband, John R. Wunsch, a retired Naval Commander and husband of 56 years, and her twin daughters, Sharon Werner and Sandra Smith, from Seattle. She is also survived by her niece, Cynthia Crawford, and her family who live in Connecticut. Betty has 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an accomplished seamstress, wonderful cook and a gracious hostess. Her home was the family hub for all holidays and for any family gathering. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Lambert and Myrtle Leuffgen on December 29. 1924.

She graduated from Pullman Tech High School and was part of the Drum and Bugle Corp. Because of her beauty, Betty modeled in her early years. She met and married John R. Wunsch, a Naval Officer, and spent the rest of her years as a Navy wife.

They were stationed many places in the U.S. Including overseas on the island of Guam. She and John left Whidbey Island approximately 20 years ago and moved to Sun City West, Arizona. She was an avid golfer but soon discovered that joining the Rhythm Tappers and the Cloggers were her first loves.

She danced with them for about 15 years.
