A driver’s momentary distraction ended with a spectacular roll-over accident on Highway 20 near Libbey Road, Monday afternoon.

Miraculously, nobody was injured.

State Trooper Tim Yzaguirre said that Chuck Oliver, a 64-year-old Oak Harbor resident, was driving toward Coupeville in his Chevrolet S-10 pickup when he crossed over into the next lane.

The truck traveled onto the shoulder and collided with a light pole, knocking it down. The pickup then rolled three times before coming to rest on its wheels.

Oliver received first aid at the scene, but he said he was fine. His truck, however, was not so lucky. It was totaled.

Oliver said he wasn’t sure what distracted him while he was driving.

“It’s a very, very busy intersection,” he said. “I’m just glad nobody else got hurt.”
