Irene Susan (Fresu) Dautel

Published April 15, 2008

Irene Susan (Fresu) Dautel, wonderful wife, devoted mom and beloved grandma, born Nov. 13, 1932 in Trail, B.C., passed away April 15, 2008, at Regional Hospital for Complex Care in Seattle.

While working in Hawaii, Irene met her future husband, Larry, a sailor stationed at Pearl Harbor. They married in October 1960 and after a few duty stations settled for many years in Oak Harbor where many dear friends and memories were made. After retiring in Snohomish while living next to her daughter, Pam, and son-in-law, Steve, Irene full heartedly took on the role of Grandma to her three grandchildren, Marista, Garrett and Kelynn. She played a pivotal role model to them as she became their beloved G-mama.

Irene was a kind lady who enjoyed her family, all Seattle sports teams, bingo, and cards. Always as sweet as can be until the card games started.

She is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, her sister Natalie, favorite niece Karen and many other relatives. Irene was predeceased by her son Tim (November 2007) and her husband Larry (October 1987). She will be sadly missed by her friends and relatives in British Columbia, Washington and Kansas.

“Good Night Irene, Good Night Irene, I’ll see you in my dreams.”

Memorial services will be held at Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish, May 2, at 11 a.m. A gathering will be held at the family home immediately after the service. Internment of ashes will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Oak Harbor, on the same day at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to your favorite charity in Irene’s name.
