Della Arlene Luehrs

Della Arlene Luehrs, 88, a resident of Burlington, went to be with her Lord on Oct. 20, 2007.

She was born Sept. 3, 1919, in Laurel, Wash., a daughter of Roston and Gertrude Welch.

Della grew up in the White Salmon area of Washington, moving to Portland, Ore., as a young teenager. She met her husband, Roy, in Stanwood while doing evangelistic outreach.

Della and Roy married June 24, 1940, in Portland and settled in Skagit Valley where they resided and raised their family.

Her hobbies included sewing, handiwork, canning, and showing hospitality by opening her home to many friends and family. She faithfully served God in her church in many capacities including Sunday schools superintendent, choir member and women’s ministries. Della currently was a member of Central Valley Assembly of God Church in Burlington.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law; Duane and Karen Luehrs of Burlington, Dale and Jacqueline Luehrs of Buhl, Idaho; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Larry Martin of Enumclaw, Charlotte and Darrell Lake of Boise, Idaho, Nita and John Rouw of Oak Harbor and Sandra Olson of Conway; two sisters, Ethel Stoller of Portland, and Florence Adkerson and husband J. C. of Sedro-Woolley; two sisters-in-law, Eleene White of Tacoma and Mavis Luehrs of Burlington; one brother-in-law, Elberne Luehrs of Sidney, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Roy; father and mother; three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Graveside services were held, Oct. 26 at Burlington Cemetery on Gardner Road with a memorial service following at Central Valley Assembly of God Church at 1551 E. Rio Vista Ave. Remembrances are suggested to Central Valley Assembly of God Church for Women’s Ministries.
