Helen Jean Tuck

Helen Jean Tuck was born Dec. 28, 1929 in Coupeville to Clara and James Stoddard. She passed away in her sleep on Oct. 21, 2006 from the devastating ALS disease (Lou Gehrig’s). She was also a breast cancer survivor for four years.
Upon graduating from nursing school in the state of Washington in 1950 she moved to California and immediately began practicing her profession. She worked for many years as an OB nurse and loved her work with her patients.
She is survived by her husband Leo of 54 years, three children, Marcia Lynn, Ronald Leo and James Edgar, seven grandchildren and a sister, Cleone Webster of Arlington, Wash.
Helen was a member of the College Avenue Baptist Church for 40 years.
Upon retirement from nursing she did volunteer work at the Neighborhood Care Center run by the church. She was also a member of DPW Whidbey Chapter 6 and the Island County Historical Society.
