Marianne Gendron

Marianne (Montrose) Gendron, 67, died at her home in Coupeville on Sept. 27, 2006 following a long battle with cancer. She was born in Pittsburgh, Penn., to Frank S. and Anna (Gajda) Borkowski. Marianne was raised in Pittsburgh where she graduated from St. Augustine’s High School. She attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, receiving her certification as a Registered Nurse in 1960.
Marianne moved to Seattle, where she worked at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital and then at Valley Medical Center in Renton. She was married to Frank Montrose, Jr. on Oct. 27, 1962 in Port Orchard. They lived in Federal Way for 20 years.
Marianne retired in 1993, and in 1994, they moved to Coupeville. Marianne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Coupeville, St. Mary’s Altar Society and the Coupeville Garden Club. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano for her own enjoyment and most of all, enjoyed her family and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2001. She was married to Ernest P. “Ernie” Gendron on June 19, 2004 in Coupeville.
Marianne is survived by her husband Ernie at the family home, Coupeville; by four daughters and their husbands: Michelle and Jerome Jones of Spanaway; Marianne and Joe Rojas of Federal Way; Pauline and Mitch Ornburn of Coupeville and April and Brian Johnson of Orting. Six grandchildren also survive her: Trevor, Lauren and Sean Rojas, Jason and Jessica Ornburn and Joshua Johnson. She was also preceded in death by one brother Julian Borkowski and by her parents.
Visitation with Rosary service was held at St. Mary’s Church on Sept. 29 with the Knights of Columbus officiating. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 9 a.m. with Rev. Philip Raether as Celebrant. Rites of Interment followed at Sunnyside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Altar Society. Arrangements were entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
