Bernard (Ben) D. Anlage, 81, died peacefully Aug. 21, 2006 in the VA Hospital in Miami, Fla.
Born in Cedarbrook, N.J., he moved with his family to Miami. He joined the Navy in 1943 and while in he met Mary Sue (Suzie) his wife. During his 33 years in the Navy he was stationed at Whidbey Island in VA-128 and VA-165, leaving there in 1974 to go on his last tour in Key West.
He had just celebrated his 81st birthday in the VA hospital where he was surprised by the arrival of all of his children, most of his grandchildren and five of his great grandchildren.
He is survived by his Wife Mary Sue (Suzie) of 58 years; his children, Bernard III, Mary Christine (Oak Harbor High School grad), William (Bill)(OHHS) Margaret, and James; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and 3 Sisters. He was a life member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Whitehead Muzzall VFW Post 7392 while in Oak Harbor. His mass was Aug. 28 with a reception at the American Legion Post 51 after. Send any thoughts to Suzie to kc4mhr@bellsouth.net.
