Victoria Parkhurst

Victoria Lynn (Hamm) Parkhurst, 53, died May 2, 2006 at United General Hospital, Sedro-Woolley, after a two-year battle with cancer. She was born August 24, 1952 in Pipestone, Minn., to Arie and Adriana (Kroon) Hamm.

When she was six and a half, the family moved from Leota, Minn., to Oak Harbor where she attended public school. In April 1969 she married Don W. Parkhurst in Oak Harbor. She had a passion for fishing that she acquired at a young age from many fishing outings with her father. She passed this love on to her children and grandchildren. Her other love in life was attending all of the sporting and extra curricular activities of her children and grandchildren, watching them grow and blossom.

Victoria is survived by a son, two daughters, their spouses and children: Curtis (son) and wife Trina and their children, Brittany and Beau; Kim (daughter) and husband Matt Chonka and their son Ryan, and soon to arrive daughter Victoria Don due in June; Amie (daughter) and husband Justin Corfe and their children, Chrystal, Jonathon and Dalton. Her mother and stepfather Adriana and Robert Swanson, two brothers, Fred and wife Loretta Hamm, and Don Hamm; two sisters, Gladys and husband Harvey Jansma, and Judi and husband Dirk Mitchell also survive her. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, also survive Victoria. She was preceded in death by her father, Arie Hamm, her husband Don W. Parkhurst, her brother Henry Hamm, her sister-in-law Ernie Hamm (brother Don’s wife), her grandmother Girtie Kroon, and her step grandson, James Corfe.

A memorial service was held May 5 at First Christian Reformed Church, Mount Vernon. Memorials may be given to the Oncology Clinic at United General Hospital, 2000 Hospital Drive, Sedro-Woolley WA 98284.
