Brent Michael West

Brent West, 18, beloved son of Mike and Cathy West and cherished brother of Shawna, died March 29, 2006 at his home in Oak Harbor. He was born Dec. 11, 1987 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Brent grew up in the Oak Harbor area and attended Oak Harbor Schools where he leaves behind many loyal friends. In the last year he had been traveling between here and Costa Mesa, Calif., and living with his father there. Brent will be sorely missed by his family and close friends.

Brent is survived by his mother Cathy West and sister Shawna West at the family home in Oak Harbor, his father Mike West of Costa Mesa, Calif., his maternal grandparents Elisabeth and Bruce Bierbower of Oak Harbor, uncles Greg Cegler with wife Annette of Sacramento, Calif., and Steve Cegler with wife Lynne of Pearl City, Hawaii, aunts Joyce Friddell with husband Bill of Jacksonville, Fla., and Patricia West of Atlanta, Ga. He also leaves cousins Kyle, Korrinne, Billy and Lisa, along with many friends both in Oak Harbor and Costa Mesa.

Visitation for Brent will be held at Burley Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Living Word Fellowship, 490 NW Crosby Road. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations may be made to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Island County. Whidbey Island Bank has also set up a memorial fund in Brent’s name. Contributions may be made at any of their branches. Arrangements were entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel.
