Nancy Lewin

Nancy Ann Lewin was called to her Lord on Nov. 15, 2005, following a long battle with cancer. She was born in Oak Harbor on Sept. 24, 1935 to Ole M. and Vera (Chivronsoff) Olson.

Nancy spent her entire life in Oak Harbor. She was a cheerleader in high school and graduated with the Class of 1953. Following graduation, she worked at the Navy Exchange and then for Tradewell Foods. She was married to Joe Lewin in Oak Harbor on Oct. 13, 1956. She quit work to start her family and as her children grew, she returned to work.

In 1968, Nancy began work as a bus driver for the Oak Harbor School District. She retired in 1999 from the district with 31 years of service. Nancy enjoyed traveling, gardening and flowers. Her true love in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a life-member of the Oak Harbor Lutheran Church.

Nancy is survived by her husband Joe at the family home, Oak Harbor and two children and their spouses: Carol and James Booth of Oak Harbor and Doug and Debbie Lewin of Wenatchee. She is survived by four grandchildren: Susan and Sean Booth of Everett and Megan, Hannah and Joe Lewin, all of Wenatchee and two great-grandchildren, Blake and Rebecca Booth, both of Everett. One brother Hans Olson and wife Marlene and sisters Dorothy Gilbert and husband Eugene of Oak Harbor and Vera Romani of Sesser, Illinois also survive.

Graveside funeral services were held Nov. 18 with Pastor Laurie Johnson officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2120 First Avenue N. Seattle, WA 98109. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
