Ada Walbeck

Ada Eleanor Walbeck, 94, died gently in her sleep on April 11, 2005, in Oak Harbor. She was born on Oct. 14, 1910, in Chesapeake City, Md., to Clarence Levredge and Marjorie Holmes Levredge. She met and later married Ellsworth Thomas Walbeck. They lived happily on a farm outside North East, Md., where Ada was a homemaker and loved to work in her garden. They had four children, James, Clarence (Gene), Nancy and Linda. After she was preceded in death by the untimely passing of her husband, Ada went on to live in Madera Beach, Fla.; Palmdale, Calif., Las Vegas, Nev.; Brooksville, Fla.; San Andreas, Calif., and finally Washington state.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, two brothers, Clarence Levredge of Elkton, Md., and Ralph Levredge of North East, Md., and a sister, Evelyn Krauss of Marysville. Also, her son, James Walbeck of Brooksville, Fla., and two grandsons, Larry Walbeck of Wilmington, Del., and David Potter of North East.

Ada is survived by her son, Gene and daughter-in-law, Virginia Walbeck of Palmdale, Calif., her daughter-in-law, Euva Walbeck of Brooksville, Fla., her daughter Nancy Baker and son-in-law John, of Powder Springs, Ga., and daughter Linda Walbeck of Oak Harbor. She’s also survived by 10 grandchildren: Tom Walbeck in Georgia, Tim Walbeck in Michigan, Gary Walbeck in Florida, Carol Rigby and Susan Cribb of Delaware, Cindie Garren and Jeff Bedyk in California, Sharon Barr and Jason Potter of Maryland, and Melissa Becker of Washington State. Ada was also blessed to be survived by 19 great-grandchildren: Kathleen, Michael, Jeremy, Jessica, Jodi, Benjamin, Keith, Cheree, Heath, Jason, Kristen, Carlos, Brandee, Caleb, Jakob, Nathan, Brianna, Brittany and Brandon. She also has one great-great-granddaughter, Christina Marie.

Ada lead a very active life and enjoyed not only her time when her extended family visited, but also loved to travel (including trips to Canada, Mexico, Jamaica and The Cayman Islands) and never let a bingo game or a slot machine pass her by. Her ability to laugh and have fun will be remembered by all.

A memorial service will be held at North East, Md., Cemetery June 25, where Ada will be laid to rest next to her husband, followed by a celebration of life.
