Dale Joseph Lambert, Sr.

Dale Joseph Lambert, Sr., 75, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Home Place Special Care Center in Oak Harbor.
Dale was born in Cottonport, La. Jan. 30, 1929, to Joseph Lambert and Essie Pike Lambert. He attended Southeastern Louisiana University for chemical engineering. Dale worked in the oil industry and starch distribution with extensive travel throughout the United States and Canada.
While in the United States Marine Corps from 1947 to 1953, Dale served his country in active combat during the Korean War. His interest in boating was exceeded by his love for flying, which was useful for his business and personal enjoyment. His amphibious plane gave him exciting adventures in sport fishing around the U.S. and the Gulf of Mexico.
Dale loved to be on the move and did so many times over the years. He was a resident of Slidell, La., Metairie, La., Plainview, Texas, Kansas City, Mo., Atchison, Kan., back to Slidell, La., and Oak Harbor.
Dale lived one of his lifelong dreams, traveling the United States, parts of Mexico and Canada for two and one-half years with his family. He then settled in Oak Harbor, where he lived for the past 16 years.
Dale is survived by his loving wife Rita of Oak Harbor; one sister Ella Smith of Slidell, La.; daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Jeffrey Neri of Carrollton, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Dale and Kristi Lambert Jr. of Mandeville, La; daughter Jennifer Lambert of Bellingham; granddaughters Lauren and Taylor Lambert of Mandeville, La.; nephews Brian Barringer of Slidell, La., Don Barringer of Atlanta, Ga. and Frank Bradshaw of Brandon, Miss. Dale was preceded in death by his mother Essie, father Joseph, stepfather Frank Fererro and brother Gene Fererro.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Dale’s life was celebrated Jan. 27 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, with Rev. Ronald Belisle as Celebrant. Cremation was held with private family inurnment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org n his name.
