Berghuis John

John Berghuis, 77, a 22-year resident of Oak Harbor, died July 12, 2004, at Providence Hospital in Everett, following a short stay.

John enjoyed singing and was very artistic. Many people likened John’s voice to Frank Sinatra and delighted in his renditions. “John B” was very well known in the local island karaoke circuit and was admired by everyone who knew him.

He was a truly devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John is survived by his daughter Karen Howie and son-in-law Dale Howie of Coupeville; three grandchildren, Diana Henning and husband Jacob of Yelm, Michael Howie and wife Holly of Liberty Lake, and Lindsey Howie of Coupeville; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Tyler.

John had a marvelous sense of humor, was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by friends and his loving family.

A graveside service will be Saturday, July 17, 11 a.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery. Arrangements under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
