Mary Belle Fortner

Mary Belle Fortner, 85, 53-year resident of Oak Harbor, died July 1, 2004 at an adult care center in Oak Harbor.
Mrs. Fortner was born in McMurray, near Mount Vernon, Dec. 16, 1918, to Alexander Robertson and Bella (Park) Robertson. Mary moved to Oak Harbor from Mount Vernon in 1951. She was employed for many years at the Hallmark shop at the Navy Exchange. She was a member of the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church and the Oak Leaf Rebekah Lodge No. 254. Mary enjoyed collecting coins and knitting.
Mary is survived by one granddaughter, Holly Hamilton and one grandson, Jimmy Wadlington, both of Oak Harbor; also by a son-in-law, Raymond L. “Spider” Wadlington, also of Oak Harbor. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Jo Wadlington, Feb. 7, 2004.
In keeping with her wishes, no service will be held. Private inurnment will take place at Mount Vernon Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements and cremation under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
