Jack Rogers Fowler

Jack Rogers Fowler, beloved husband of Judy Hannon Fowler, died at Virginia Mason Medical Center, Seattle, on June 29, 2004 at the age of 65. He was born in Harrisville, West Virginia on May 21, 1939. Following high school, he attended West Virginia University for a time.

Jack was a member of the U.S. Air Force, working with early computer and satellite technology. Following his military service, Jack returned to W.V.U. earning his Masters Degree in Industrial Relations. He then began a 27-year career with the University as an Associate Professor. He retired from the College of Continuing Education and Co-operative Extension as Business Manager of County Extension Agencies in 1995.

While at the university, Jack became the National President for the National Association of Collegiate Veterans and in that capacity, testified before Congress to help pass the Cold War G.I. Bill.

Mr. Fowler was a member of the Shrine and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of West Virginia and Oak Harbor Senior Center.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife Judy Hannon Fowler of Oak Harbor and one daughter, Joyce Wilson and husband Bill of Berryville, Ark. Three step children, Kristina Monten and husband Gregg and grandchildren, Mackenzie and Caitlin of Snohomish; Melissa Wolf and husband John and grandchildren Hannah and Joshua of Bellingham, and Gregg and Allison Hill and daughter Madison, also of Bellingham and one sister-in-law, Bettie Fowler of Williamsburg, W.V., also survive.

A celebration of life was held July 2 at Burley Funeral Chapel. A farewell tribute was also provided by VFW Whitehead-Muzzall Post of Oak Harbor. Cremation was held with inurnment to follow.
