Lillian E. Lathim

Lillian E. Lathim died June 25, 2004, at Whidbey Island Manor, Oak Harbor, at the age of 98. She was born Feb. 22, 1906, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., to Frank and Grace (Nelson) Whitlock. She graduated from business college in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Mrs. Lathim was married to Richard Lathim in Santa Barbara Oct. 23, 1927. She and Richard lived in Santa Barbara. During World War II, Lillian went to work as a bookkeeper for her father at the Lyons Moving and Storage Company, which he founded. She remained with Lyons until the early 1960’s.

Richard died in 1985 and in 1986, Lillian moved to Oak Harbor to be near her daughter. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and sewing.

Mrs. Lathim is survived by one daughter, Shirley Sanders of Oak Harbor. Three grandchildren, Cheryl Quinores and husband Stanley of Arlington; Val Sanders and husband Jim Vile of Denver, Colo., and Ric Sanders and wife Anita of Curlew Lake; four great-grandchildren: Kalea and Kiana Sanders of Arlington and Morgan Sanders and wife Jinny of Port Townsend and Matthew Evans of Curlew and four great-great-grandchildren: Josh, Justin and Rebecca DeVenere and Isiah Sanders, all of Port Townsend also survive.

Family memorial services will be held in Curlew with private inurnment to be held at the Santa Barbara Cemetery, Santa Barbara. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
