Agnes O. “Aggie” Stitzel

Agnes O. “Aggie” Stitzel died suddenly at her home in Oak Harbor June 23, 2004, at the age of 73. She was born June 9, 1931, in Bedford, Ohio, to Henry J. and Mary (Seeka) Rickelman.

Aggie grew up in Ohio and at the age of 12, moved with her family to Southern California. She spent most of her life in the San Fernando Valley. Aggie graduated from Garfield High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at her grandmother’s knitting shop and then continued working for a hospital, swimming pool shop and dentist office, maintaining their books.

Aggie was married to Dan W. Stitzel in Oak Harbor Dec. 9, 1993, making Oak Harbor her final home. She enjoyed crafts, scrap booking, shopping and visiting family and friends on the telephone.

Aggie is survived by her husband Dan of Oak Harbor; by eight children, Gary Davis of Amarillo, Texas; Lynn Miller of Sheperdsville, Ky.; Sherry Ikenberry of Mountainview, Okla.; Carol Miller of Gordonville, Texas; Nancy Tolhurst of Lawton, Okla.; Kathleen Osborn of Denver, Colo.; Lynda Briggs of Redding, Calif. and Randy Davis. Twenty grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren also survive.

Private family graveside services were held Tuesday, June 29, at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
