Alice M. Polehna

Alice M. Polehna, 84, of Oak Harbor, died at her home Wednesday, June 16, 2004.
Mrs. Polehna was born in Santa Cruz, Calif., Feb. 23, 1920, to Lawrence Boekenoogen and Mary (Butterfield) Boekenoogen. Alice married Stanley Polehna in Carson City, Nev., Dec. 14, 1951. The couple lived in Westwood, Calif., before moving to Santa Cruz, Calif., where Alice was employed at the Stokeley’s and Birds Eye canneries. They moved to Oak Harbor in 1990. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Alice is survived by two sons, Clint S. Polehna and Gordon E. Polehna, both of Oak Harbor; by two daughters, Judy Ann Nisbet of Minneapolis, Minn., and Deanna D. Sesher of Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley March 10, 2002, by son Dennis Montoya and by one brother.
A graveside service will be Thursday, June 24, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Rev. Fred Renfroe, CHC, USN (Ret.) officiating.
