Barbara Ann Barker

Barbara Ann Barker, loving wife, mother and friend was called by the Lord on Sunday morning, March 14, 2004. Barbara was born in Bellingham on Dec. 3, 1937, to William and Mina Brester. Upon graduation from Bellingham High School, she worked for Bell Telephone as an operator and later for KVOS TV as a film editor. In June of 1961 she met Bob Barker, a teacher and coach at Coupeville High School and they were married on Nov. 4. 1961. Moving to Coupeville she dedicated her life to being a good wife and mother to three beautiful daughters that she treasured greatly. While living in Coupeville, she earned her AA degree at Skagit Valley College and worked as an aide at the elementary school and later as an assistant to the director of personnel at Whidbey General Hospital. Upon her husband’s retirement in 1990 they moved to Snohomish County where she obtained a job as a receptionist at Unigard Insurance Co. in Bellevue. She retired from that position in 1999 to concentrate on her determined battle with ovarian cancer. Barbara will be remembered for the ease with which she collected friends, her dedication to her family, her love of the Lord and the courage with which she faced her physical affliction and her resulting death. Barbara is survived by her husband, Bob; daughters Tresa Watson of Granite Falls, Traci Ebert of Mill Creek, Tina Rodriguez of Lynnwood; sister Cheryl Jeffery of Bellingham; brother Warren Brester of Billings, Mont., and brother Lloyd Brester of Bellingham.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. , Saturday, March 20, at Evergreen Baptist Church, 19010 Fifth Aveenue NE, Shoreline. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Group Health Hospice, Dept 4194, PO Box 34936, Seattle, WA 98124-9924 or the Cancer Society.
