Edward Gholson

Edward J. Gholson went home to be with the Lord March 11, 2004. He was with his wife and daughter at their home in California.
Ed was born May 3, 1917, in Auburn to Harry and Molly (Edwards) Gholson. He grew up in and around the Everett area. He met Margaret Elks in 1938. They were married Jan. 1, 1940, and had 64 wonderful years together. He lived and worked in the Ballard area of Seattle for many years.
In 1980, Ed and Margaret retired to their home, which he helped build, at Harrington Lagoon in Coupeville. His summers were spent fishing, crabbing, and clam digging, always surrounded by friends and family. They had a second home in Yuma, Ariz., where they spent 22 years of retirement in the winter months. During those years, they met many dear friends.
Ed was a 50-year member of the Ballard Elks Club and Masonic Lodge. He was also an El Zaribeth Shriner and member of Valley of Phoenix Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his brother Cecil Gholson. He is survived by his wife Margaret, daughter Penny (Al) Kittleson, grandson Shawn (Alexis) Eveland, great-grandsons Anthony and Brandon, niece Kathy (Bob) Huggins, nephew John (Elizabeth) Gholson and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ed will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Services will be held Thursday, April 1, at 1 p.m. at Purdy and Walters at Cassidyt, 1702 Pacific Ave., Everett. Pastor Matt Chambers of the Assembly of God in Langley will be conducting the service followed by a Rose Cross Scottish Rite memorial ceremony and reception. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent to Phoenix Scottish Rite Bodies, 77 E. Columbus Ave., Suite 215, Phoenix, AZ 85012-2352. All funds are distributed among scholarship and literacy programs.
