George L. Cochran

George L. Cochran, Jr., 81, passed away Dec. 16, 2003, in Indio, Calif. He was born Nov. 19, 1922. He joined the Navy in Alabama in 1942, serving in the Pacific during World War II and the Korean War. George retired in Oak Harbor as an aviation ordnance chief petty officer in 1962. He was well known as a salesman and manager at the local Ford dealership from 1962 to1985. A member of Oak Harbor Yacht Club, George was instrumental in building the club facility, establishing a fishing derby for children and the Christmas boat parade. Boating, motorcycling, and traveling in a motor home, George was always ready to lend a helping hand and tell a funny story. He is survived by his wife Annabella, and three children, Cathy and husband Bill Proses, Curtis, Renee and husband Jon Huston, seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
