Ralph Smith

Ralph E. Smith died Dec. 14, 2003. He was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Tacoma to Merritt Othello Smith and Susanna Louise Lindgren. He graduated from Olympia High School and received a bachelor’s degree in music from Central Washington University. He did post-graduate work at Washington State University. Mr. Smith was a music teacher in Eastern Washington for 27 years, ending with retirement from Pullman High School. He served in the Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgina Morris-Smith and brother William Smith of Federal Way. He is survived by eight children, 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His family and Whidbey Playhouse are hosting a memorial service Jan. 11, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Whidbey Playhouse in Oak Harbor. Memorials may be made to Whidbey Playhouse or Oak Harbor Senior Center.
