Elizabeth T. Lindsey

Elizabeth T. Lindsey, 77, died Nov. 30, 2003, at the home of her daughter in Oak Harbor. She was surrounded by family. She was born July 9, 1926, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Egypt and Gertrude (Terrell) Tolliver. She was raised by her grandmother in Corpus Christi, Texas After graduating from Solomon Coles High School she met and married James Rebbetter. While married a daughter was born.

After living in California until 1957, Elizabeth and her daughter returned to Texas. She worked many years as a domestic and various other jobs. She eventually divorced from her first husband and later married Benjamin Lindsey. Both Ben and Elizabeth‚s mother, Gertrude died in 1982. Elizabeth was also preceded by her brother, Emanuel.

Elizabeth was a long time devoted member of the St. John the Baptist Church of Corpus Christi, Texas. She was totally committed to her church and its activities, including the women’s groups, church usher and assisted with the cooking for all the church functions. Elizabeth moved to Oak Harbor in 2001 to be with her daughter.

Mrs. Lindsey is survived by her daughter Myron Warner and son-in-law William E. Warner of Oak Harbor and one stepson James Rebetter of Santa Monica, Calif., grandchildren Alfred and Susan of Seattle, Andre’ and wife Chantee’ from Fairfield, Calif., and Kyle from Tacoma, and great-grandchildren Andre’, Alexander and Maricel and special cousins Wilbert and Lovie Powell in Corpus Christi, Texas. She also leaves a host of family and friends.

Family funeral services were held at Burley Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Fred Renfroe officiating. Cremation was held with private family inurnment to follow at a later date. Arrangements are by Burley Funeral Chapel
