Donald C. Broulliard

Donald C. Broulliard died after a long arduous battle with cancer Nov. 21, 2003, at Careage of Whidbey. He was born Sept. 14, 1930, to Charles A. and Jennie M. (Amundsen) Brouillard in Big Lake, Minn. Don graduated from St. Cloud College in Minnesota before joining the Navy in 1954.

Don graduated from Navy Flight School, in Pensacola, Fla., as a naval aviator. He served in weather patrol squadrons VP-4 and VP-16 in Jacksonville, Fla. In 1960 he married Theresa M. Cullen of Toledo, Ohio. Back to Pensacola, Fla., and Naval Flight School to teach for three years before joining VW-1 stationed on Guam, with a tour of sea duty aboard the carrier USS Kearsarge while living in Cypress, Calif. Then onto Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, serving in operations as a lieutenant commander until his retirement in 1974.

Don began a second career settling with Artistic Fence Company until 2001. He enjoyed skiing, hunting, bridge, cribbage and bowling. Don was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and Past Grand Knight in Oak Harbor and was a bingo manager for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Terry; son, Douglas J. Brouillard of Everett; daughter Jennie M. Fuller (David) of Mesa, Ariz.; grandchildren, Zachary James and Sydney Mae Fuller of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, Jean L. Brouillard (Rita) of San Benito, Texas; sister, Mary L. Brouillard of St. Paul, Minn.

Viewing will begin at 5 p.m. in St. Augustine’s Catholic Church Friday, Nov 28. Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. at the church. A reception will follow the Mass. Arrangements under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
