Carl Richart

Carl Otho Richart was born Jan. 3, 1929 in Hood River, Oregon to Dorr J. Richart and Mary Ella Walker Richart. He died of cancer on Nov. 10, 2003.
His family and friends remember him as an inspiring teacher, a storyteller, an avid sailor, a skilled woodworker, and a poet. He enjoyed anything to do with boats; building them, sailing, rowing, building models, reading maritime history. He was a natural leader with the ability to hear diverse opinions and synthesize a common goal.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frances, and by his six children; Kathleen, Pryde, Mary Parker, Robert, Kevin, Ann Crook, Sara Wees, and eleven grandchildren.
