Memorial services for Dorothy Lucille Wright of Coupeville will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 3, at Oak Harbor Lutheran Church, 1253 NW Second Ave., Oak Harbor.
Mrs. Wright, 76, died April 27, 2003, at Swedish Medical Center, Seattle. She was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Chicago to Henry and Irene Melchiori. She was married to Floyd C. Wright Aug. 13, 1949, in Chicago.
She is survived by her husband Floyd C. Wright, son Randy Wright, daughters Jackie Bacus and Ruth Rhodes and a sister, Lois Wesselius. Eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Her parents, Henry and Irene Melchiori, preceded her in death.
Dorothy moved to Oak Harbor in October 1966 with her husband, a chief petty officer, and their three children. She was employed at Ault Field Navy Exchange tailor shop and Island County Health Department in environmental health. She retired from Island County Health Department in 1991 after serving 19 years. Her pleasant smile and helpful nature were appreciated by the staff and public.
Dorothy danced with Whidbey Whirlers Square Dance and Round Dance Club. She enjoyed gardening and bridge club with friends. Dorothy and Floyd were members of Concordia Lutheran Church for 28 years and are current members of Oak Harbor Lutheran Church. At Oak Harbor Lutheran Church, Dorothy enjoyed serving in the Stephen Ministry. She was well known for her red raspberry jam and pie. She loved her Lord and will be missed by family and friends.
