Community: Aching on the sidelines

On Oct. 5, something that was unique and fun took place at City Beach baseball fields — DARE donkey baseball! Our Oak Harbor police department faced off with our local Whidbey Island Blade Benders lawnmower racers, in a hilarious 90 minutes of baseball (?) atop well cared for donkeys.

It was a fundraiser for DARE and was well attended by people who left with side aches from laughing. I truly hope there is a re-match in the future. Go lawnmower racers! You’re sure to win next year. Plan to attend, it’s worth it.
