Wolves’ troubles with Port Townsend continue / Soccer

The Coupeville High School soccer team can’t seem to break the Port Townsend jinx.

The Redhawks defeated the Wolves for the sixth straight time, the latest 3-0 at Mickey Clark Field Saturday, April 22.

Coupeville has yet to top Port Townsend in the three years of the Olympic League 1A division.

“We will be looking forward to seeing them next week for a little payback,” coach Kyle Nelson said.

The Wolves (3-4, 4-8-1) and Redhawks (4-2, 6-5) play the regular season finale at 6 p.m. Friday, April 28, in Port Townsend. Before the rematch, the Wolves host Klahowya (6-0, 9-2-1) at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 25.

“The positive is the continued improvement in how we are passing the ball around and making connections,” Nelson said after Saturday’s loss.
