Wolves take on hills at Roller Coaster Run / Cross country

Navigating a wet, hilly course, the Coupeville High School boys finished second and the girls fifth in their respective cross country divisions at the King’s Roller Coaster Run Saturday, Sept. 28, in Shoreline.

All of the Coupeville boys ran in the junior varsity race, helping the Wolves earn 76 points, 10 behind winner Chelan.

Mitchell Hall paced Coupeville by running the three-mile course in 19:25.15, good for third place out of 81.

He was followed by Aidan Wilson (sixth, 19:52.68), Cameron Epp (20th, 20:52.55), Reiley Araceley (21st, 20:54.6), Tate Wyman (26th, 21:09.24), Alexander Wasik (38th, 21:55.43), Chris Ruck (44th, 22:39.54), Aiden Anderson (50th, 23:11.29) and Eli Kastner (52nd, 23:20.54).

The Wolves were fifth in the girls varsity race with 95 points. King’s collected the title with 24.

Catherine Lhamon was the top Coupeville finisher, taking 16th out of 44 with a time of 23:10.73. She was trailed in the next two spots by Claire Mayne (23:16.55) and Alana Mihill (23:20.54). Helen Strelow was 34th (26:35.82) and Cristina McGrath took 39th (28:01.05).

The Wolves compete in a North Sound Conference meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at South Whidbey.
