Coupeville girls take 1st, boys 2nd in home meet / Track

Overcoming a balky timing system and chilly weather, the Coupeville High School track team put together a strong performance in its only home meet of the season Wednesday, March 28.

The Wolves’ girls team finished first in the five-team meet and boys took second, trailing Mount Vernon Christian by only 2.5 points.

Winning for the girls were Lindsey Roberts (200 meters, 27.7), Lauren Bayne (high jump, 4-08), Mackenzie Meyer (pole vault, 6-01) and the 4×200 team of Roberts, Ashlie Shank, Mallory Kortuem and Maya Toomey-Stout (1:54.87).

On the boys side, Coupeville winners included Jacob Smith (200, 23.48), Danny Conlisk (800, 2:07.79), Chris Battaglia (high jump, 5-02), Jean Lund-Olsen (long jump, 18-09.5) and the 4×100 relay team of Smith, Lund-Olsen, Cameron Toomey-Stout and Sean Toomey-Stout (45.83).

Girls: Coupeville 209, Klahowya 167, Mount Vernon Christian 99, Port Townsend 78 and Chimacum 39.

Boys: Mount Vernon Christian 169.5, Coupeville 167, Klahowya 155, Port Townsend 77 and Chimacum 34.5.
