A loss in its season finale and an upset win by Sultan knocked the Coupeville High School soccer team out of the postseason picture.
The Wolves fell 5-1 at Granite Falls Wednesday, Oct. 17, and Sultan stunned Cedar Park Christian 1-0.
Coupeville and Sultan entered Wednesday’s play tied for fifth and the final playoff berth into the district tournament. The Wolves also held the tie-breaker over the Turks.
Coupeville finished with a 1-9 record (2-12-1) in its initial season in the North Sound Conference.
The Wolves battled Granite Falls to a 1-1 tie through the first half, then the Tigers exploded for four second-half goals.
“We played fairly well in the first half,” Coupeville coach Kyle Nelson said. “Unfortunately, we didn’t match them in the second half.”
Avalon Renninger tallied Coupeville’s goal.
