Wolves ‘kinda’ lose at Chimacum / Tennis

The Coupeville High School tennis team lost a non-league match 4-3 at Chimacum Wednesday, May 1 — but the Wolves also sorta won.

Had the match followed the format used by Coupeville’s North Sound Conference, the Wolves would have won 3-2.

Since Chimacum hosted the contest, it used the lineup of its Olympic League — three singles and four doubles. The North Sound Conference uses a two singles, three doubles format.

The Cowboys (3-12) won both “extra” matches — third singles and fourth doubles — and captured the win.

The Wolves (2-4, 2-5) complete the regular season at Granite Falls (2-6, 3-10) at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2.

The teams will complete a match that was suspended because of rain April 16 and then start a new contest.
