Wolves fall to U-Prep / Baseball

University Prep handed the Coupeville High School baseball team its seventh straight loss, topping the Wolves 11-2 Wednesday, March 27, in a non-league game at Shorecrest High School.

Down 4-0, Coupeville cut the deficit in half with two runs in the third inning. Shane Losey got things started with a walk, then singles by Matt Hilborn and Jake Pease plated the runs.

U-Prep answered with five runs in its half of the inning and the Wolves couldn’t respond.

Coupeville finished with five hits in the game — a double by Ulrik Wells and singles by Hilborn, Pease, Hawthorne Wolfe and Dane Lucero.

University Prep rapped 10 hits and was helped by five walks and four hit batters.

“We got some good work in and showed signs of improvement,” Coupeville coach Chris Smith said.

The Wolves (0-3, 0-7) play at Friday Harbor in a non-league game at 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 29.
