Wolves beat Friday Harbor again / Tennis

Pitching a shutout against Friday Harbor for the second time in five days, the Coupeville High School tennis team blanked the visiting Wolverines 4-0 Tuesday, April 30.

The Wolves celebrated Senior Night during their final home match of the spring and honored foreign exchange student Bruna Moratori, who made her varsity debut in third doubles. She teamed with Jaimee Masters to win 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

The second doubles match was also close as Eryn Wood and Emily Fielder eked out a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win.

Jillian Mayne captured second singles 6-3, 6-3; and Avalon Renninger and Tia Wurzrainer took first doubles 6-0, 6-1.

The first singles match ended in a tie.

Genna Wright and Friday Harbor’s Aida Must were all even 6-3, 5-7, 5-5 when Friday Harbor (0-6, 0-6) had to leave to catch the ferry.

Coupeville (2-4, 2-4) plays a non-league match at Chimacum (2-12) at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, and then wraps up the regular season at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Granite Falls (2-5, 3-9).

The Granite Falls match will be the Wolves’ third in three days and fourth in seven days after playing only five in the first two months of the season.
