Wildcats shoot down Hawks / Tennis

The Oak Harbor High School tennis team beat Mountlake Terrace and the rain Wednesday, March 22, as the Wildcats blanked the visiting Hawks 7-0.

The Wildcats dropped only one set and gave up no more than two points in any other, sweeping the Hawks (0-3) away before a heavy rain shower doused the courts.

Oak Harbor (2-1) starts conference play at Everett (1-2) at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 24.

Results versus Mountlake Terrace:

Singles: 1, Tamia Rios won 6-1, 6-1; 2, Aelizah Espiritu won 6-1, 1-6, 6-1; 3, Emma Lerch won 6-1, 6-1; 4, Maddie McKenzie won 6-0, 6-1.

Doubles: 1, Emma Wezeman/Emily Brown won 6-0, 6-1; 2, Meng Juan Timm/Chloe Stowell won 6-0, 6-1; 3, Alyssa Schneider/Katrina Martinez won 6-0, 6-2.

Exhibition: Maya Krantz/Alyssa McCauley won 8-0; Johanna Schmidt/Megan Hauter won 8-0; Sierra Brakeen/McCauley tied 5-5 (stopped because of rain).
