Wildcats rally past Getchell for 1st Wesco win / Wrestling

Coming from 21 points down, the Oak Harbor High School wrestling team collected its first Wesco North win of the season, a 34-33 thriller at Marysville Getchell Thursday, Jan. 18.

The Wildcats trailed 27-6 before winning six consecutive bouts to take the match.

Michael Fisken (220 pounds) ignited the rally with a first-round fall (:56). Hayden Campbell (285) then won 7-2, making it 27-15.

Jamal Graham (106) eked out an 11-9 win, followed by a fall (1:47) by Blake Servatius (113).

Jakob Dailey (120) recorded a major decision, 11-0, to give Oak Harbor a 28-27 lead, then Caleb Fitzgerald (126) clinched the win with a fall (3:04).

Other winners for Oak Harbor were Blake McBride (145), 5-2, and Shingo Johnston (152), 6-2.

Wildcats who lost were Giovanni Ribay (132), fall, 3:18; Jeremiah Dailey (138), fall, 3:53; Aaron Fletcher (160), fall, 3:39; Ethan Pace (170), 11-7.

In all, Oak Harbor won eight of the 12 bouts that were contested but was hurt by having to forfeit two weight classes, 182 and 190.

The Wildcats are now 1-4 in North action, 4-8 overall. They make their annual trip to Renton’s Hazen High School for the PanCan Tournament at 7 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, then finish the regular season when Stanwood visits at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23.
